The IS helps to implement decisions taken at different committee levels and, in doing so, supports the process of consensus building and decision-making within the Alliance.

In response to Strategic Guidance issued to the NATO Defense College (NDC) by the North Atlantic Council and the Military Committee (MC123/9), The Mission of the NATO Defense College is to contribute to the effectiveness and cohesion of the Alliance by developing its role as a major center of education, outreach and research on transatlantic security issues.
