Fostering international and institutional cooperation to modernize learning in defense and security training and education.

IRREGULAR WARFARE AND HYBRID THREATS

The Irregular Warfare and Resilience Working Group (IWRWG) focuses on developing policies and programs to build capacity in partner countries and offer suggested directions for countering terrorist threats. As terrorism is dynamic, the IWRWG demonstrates agility in addressing contemporary trends through a combination of targeted exercises and specific policy papers.

EDUCATION DEVELOPMENT

The EDWG is designed to strengthen defense education in partner nations and consists of two core components: Curriculum Development and Faculty Development. Administrative and organizational support for professional military education institutions and systems complements the core components. Furthermore, the components are facilitated by the multinational Defense Education Enhancement Program (DEEP).

EMERGING SECURITY CHALLENGES

Established in 2012, the PfPC Emerging Security Challenges (ESC) Working Group aims to enhance the capacity of decision makers and policy shapers to identify and respond to emerging security challenges. Specifically, its goal is to identify and prioritize such challenges and discuss possible political frameworks and mechanisms to address them.

SECURITY SECTOR REFORM

Established in 2001, the SSR WG aims to encourage cooperation between international information networks as well as to enhance the exchange of ideas, insights, expertise, knowledge and best practices of security sector reform processes between consolidating and consolidated democracies in the Euro-Atlantic area. This group is strongly supported by the Swiss Federal Department of Defense, Civil Protection and Sport.
