New Leadership and Refined Direction Established by Senior Advisory Council

Garmish-Partenkirchen, Germany, September 16, 2021 - The PfP Consortium’s Senior Advisory Council met 15-16 September in Garmisch-Partenkirchen for its annual governance meeting. The Council consists of senior representatives from PfPC stakeholder nations, tasked to provide strategic guidance and operational guidelines to execute PfPC’s mission. In this meeting, the Council elected a new Chairman, Brigadier General (Retired) Helmut Dotzler.  General Dotzler is a long-standing supporter of the PfPC in his capacity as the German Deputy Director of the Marshall Center, and his distinguished career as a German Air Force Officer made him a natural choice to be the next Chairman.  His leadership will guide the way ahead for the PfPC to tackle important multilateral security and defense issues.

Under its newly established leadership, the Council provided clear guidance on how the PfPC should continue to pursue strategic issues. Among the topics that the Council proposed for attention were, Counter-Terrorism via Capacity Building - best practices and lessons learned, Resiliency, Hybrid-Warfare, Climate Change, and NCO Development.  Each of these themes will be addressed in further detail at the next Senior Advisory Council meeting, with a multilateral response programmed though the PfP Consortium’s Steering Committee.
